I got a Garmin C330 (http://www.garmin.com/products/sp330/) (refurbished) for "US"... it worked well out of the box. Then I decided to update the firmware (via Virtual PC 6, Mac OS X, USB, Garmin WebUpdater). The update itself was smooth and the firmware update was completed - then everything went haywire - with the USB connection dissappearing, the C330 going blank and now when the power button is pressedo nthe C330, it just goes to the Garmin splash screen and then .. nothing.. aaargh...we were planning to take it on a trip in a couple of days!!
I've e-mailed Garmin support and will try to call them tomorrow - we'll see what happens. But NEVER.. fool around with a software/hardware product just before you plan to use it for something important!
All right....!!! This story has a happy ending. I contacted Garmin and Keith over there was so very helpful in getting us a new unit bny next day shipment to the place we were staying in California. The new C330 works great, has all the firmware updates necessary and we have been using it constantly. The C330 or C340 is an absolute must-have for those who dont want to lookup maps while driving - not only is it inconvenient to refer to a paper map while driving but it too dangerous, Try the C330 - the best deal is over at Amazon - about $20 cheaper than eBay.
Thanks Garmin .. STH.. a good corporation deals with customers. I've had a Garmin eTrex before and now the C330 - Garmin is a company to keep.

STH..The ATI Remote Wonder PLUS buttons
I read about the ATI Remote Wonder from MacOSXHints.com at:
Hint about ATI Remote Wonder
I bought one from ebay for about $27. However, I go the Remote Wonder PLUS which is their latest version and is usually availble only directly from ATI or bundled with ATI TV packages.
The ATI RW software for Mac OS X is very good. Its extremely intuitive. However, I could not get some buttons on the RW+ to work - they were the buttons which were not on the other RW Models. It took me a while but I figured out that the Remote ID in the Remote Wonder software has to be set to "ALL" for the buttons to work.
See: Forum post about this.

Yahoo Mail Beta, Safari and Using FreePOP or other HTTP POP apps...
I use FreePOPs to get my Yahoo and Hotmail mail. See http://www.freepops.org/en/
One fine day, FreePOP's stopped working - I tried Mr. Postman and other HTTP POP access to Webmail but nothing worked.. and then...
Figured it out.. (wonder why is it that when I'm doing my taxes that I can figure out completely unrelated problems!!)
In Safari on the Mac - apparently I had accidentally accepted the Yahoo Beta invite - maybe Yahoo let me know that my browser was not supported - However, it allowed me to login but did not show me the new interface - so how would I know?.
Thats when the FreePOP problem started - the actual error - which I found in the log from Mr. Postman was "GET http://uk.f525.mail.yahoo.com/dc/system browser blocked"
So that gave me the clue.
I started up Firefox on the Mac and I found that I was in the Yahoo Beta - which I quickly switched back to Classic. Voila - all FreePOP's problems solved!!!!

STH....So Thats HOW its done ?
This is my personal blog for revelations about why something did not work in my car, home, computer, mp3 player --- ok life in general. Usually, when I have a problem or need to know something I fire up my favorite search engine and in a few clicks or after a few postings, I find the answer. If possible, I post the solution in a forum - but in most cases I fix my problem and go on with my life.
However, I know there has to be others with the same or similar problem so I think I'll start posting my "Duh"'s, "How could I have been so stoopid", "Why did I not think of it before", "I cant believe its so simple" etc... here.
I wanted to call this blog - "Problem Solved" but it was taken - so was "duh", "So thats Why" -
So Thats why this blog is called:
